Description
Nestled a midst the majestic Wasatch Mountains of northeastern Utah, East Canyon State Park beckons nature enthusiasts and history buffs alike. This hidden gem is not only a haven for boating, fishing, and camping but also an intriguing repository of Western American history. Explore the adjacent Mormon Pioneer Trail, a historic route trodden by a myriad of intrepid pioneers, including the Donner/Reed party, Mormon Pioneers, Pony Express riders, and travelers journeying from California to Oregon.
Geography:
Located within the Wasatch Front, East Canyon is home to a diverse range of wildlife such as mule deer, elk, bobcats, red foxes, porcupines, grebes and bald eagles. Visitors will be enveloped by breathtaking views of the ancient volcanic formations that surround the park, native plant species and the incredible East Canyon Reservoir that reaches depths of nearly 200 feet.
Recreation:
Visitors may enjoy a variety of recreational opportunities depending on the season. When the reservoir ices over in the winter visitors can enjoy activities such as ice fishing and skiing. During the Spring season to early winter season when the reservoir is not frozen, visitors enjoy various water sports, fishing, boating and swimming.
East Canyon State Park provides boat and personal watercraft rentals for a day on the water. Please call 801-829-6866 or visit the park for reservations.

The north side East Canyon State Park amenities include: 32 camp sites with full and partial RV hookups, 2 Conestoga wagons, 4 yurts, 2 cabins, 1 lake cottage, 21 day use pavilions, 2 group day use pavilions, single use vehicle parking for day use, and a boat parking area. The south side of the park provides: 21 primitive sites, 3 group campsites and hiking trails.
Nearby Attractions:
The scenic automobile route of the Mormon Pioneer National Historic Trail just east of the park on Utah Highway 65. Markers are located along the highway at East Canyon State Park and the summit of Big Mountain that provides information. On the south end of the park a 4.3-mile hiking portion of the trail begins at Mormon Flat and ends at the summit.

- Cancellations are accepted online 24 hours a day, seven days a week or by calling the Reservation Call Center Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Mountain Time)
Individual site cancellations made four days or more in advance of your scheduled arrival incur an $8 cancellation fee in addition to the $8 reservation fee. Cancellations made less than four days in advance forfeit one night's fee in addition to the cancellation and reservation fees.
Group area cancellations made 14 days or more in advance of your scheduled arrival incur an $8 cancellation fee in addition to the $10.25 reservation fee. Cancellations made less than 14 days in advance forfeit one night's fee in addition to the cancellation and reservation fees.
Changes to an existing reservation can only be made by contacting the Reservation Call Center. Changes can be made up to two days prior to your scheduled arrival date and incur a $5 change fee per site.

From Salt Lake City: (THANKSGIVING -MOTHERS DAY THIS ROAD IS CLOSED.. USE THE OGDEN DIRECTIONS) Take Interstate 80 east for six miles, take the Emigration/East Canyon Exit, then 21 miles northeast on State Road 65, then a mile west on State Road 66 (north end of reservoir). Big Rock campground is located at mile marker 15 on State Road 65.
From Ogden: Go 17 miles east on Interstate 84 to the Morgan Exit 103, then south on State Road 66, 14 miles southeast on State Road 66 (one mile past the dam) to the entrance.
