Utahraptor State Park features dramatic red sandstone formations, deep canyons, and fossil-rich outcrops that evoke a prehistoric landscape. These natural wonders were sculpted over millions of years through water erosion, wind activity, and tectonic uplift that exposed ancient sedimentary layers. This dynamic geologic history not only crafted breathtaking vistas but also revealed traces of the ancient creatures that once roamed the land.
Customers enjoy Utahraptor's many single and double track OHV trails, which are also open to mountain biking, as well as cultural sites and visitor center. Photography, nature study, geology, wildlife viewing, and summer evening programs are a hit with visitors to this beautiful park.
Visitor Center offers history, biology, and geology of the area. There are two campgrounds at Utahraptor. All three loops in the Gastonia Campground have 20/30/50 amp electrical hookups near the paved driveway which include backin and pull thorugh sites. This campground has modern family style restrooms, with flush toilets, showers, a dump station, each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Loops 2 and 3 have small shade structures. The improved primitive campground sites over a fire ring, picnic table, CXT vault toilet, and back in and pull through sites.
The park is 13 miles from the city of Moab. Within driving distance to Canyonlands and Arches National Parks as well as many biking OHV destinations.
